How many of you are in the 10% FTF club. That is to say that at least 10% of your cache finds were "First-To-Finds".

I need one more FTF to be a member of that club! Very Happy

There's a club? Is there some sort of secret handshake or other greeting?

Actually, I sort of hover right around the 10% mark. Sometimes ahead, sometimes behind. Lots of co-FTFs, lots of solo ones. A week or so ago, we had over a dozen people (with maybe 8-10 usernames) all looking for the same new cache. Turns out the owner hadn't put it out yet! D'oh!

When I hit 500 FTFs, that'll be enough. I'll retire from the club. Until then... Razz Twisted Evil Razz

243 finds, 4 FTFs... Eek. Nowhere's near. There's somebody here in Utah that is in the 98% FTF club, or something like that. She ONLY goes for FTFs. I've never met her, and I don't know her screenname. She just works with my dad, who is also a cacher. Wink

Wow, I can't imagine only going after FTFs and ignoring the rest. I guess there might be certain advantages, as in:

1. You never have to open a rusted altoid tin.
2. You never have to try and sign a waterlogged logsheet.
3. There is actually some decent swag to trade for.
4. You don't feel the urge to grab 10 caches on the way home from work.
5. You don't have to keep your PQs constantly up to date since all you need to do is keep an eye on your email notifications.

Now the disadvantages that I see are:

1. You'll probably spend more on gas by going for only FTFs.
2. Your caching activity is dependent upon new caches being released.
3. You might miss out on some great caches.
4. The obsessive/compulsive strive to be FTF may have a negative impact on your health/life (i.e. midnight cache runs, eating lots of fast food, getting to work late, etc.)

I think I'll stick with just finding the occasional FTF. Smile

I dunno, part of me thinks getting an FTF is just luck. I got an FTF a few weeks back partly because I get up early on Sundays. On this particular day, I got up at 5:00 a.m. and noticed a cache had just published 10 minutes earlier. It was about .4 mi away, so I just stopped there first on my normal Sunday dawn-caching-raid. Had it published even a few minutes later, I probably would've gone the other direction and totally missed it. Rolling Eyes Razz Rolling Eyes

Nah, not really. But there is a simple way. If you've got GSAK, download your "My Finds" query once a week into a separate database. Then run something like the "FindStatsGen" macro, and it spits out the HTML code with all sorts of nifty graphs. After a friend suggested this, I'm lovin' it. Razz Cool Razz

I'm lookin' ahead. I wanna hit 3,000 finds by the end of the year. To reach 10% FTFs, I'll need (gears turning, smoke coming out of ears)... 300 FTFs. I'm at 226 right now. I dunno, I'm not sure I'll make it. Question Twisted Evil Question

25 out of 439 not even close but I think that I do qualify for the 10% DNF club. At least it seems like that on some days. Confused
