You guys already listened to it? Don't you know you have to wait a week until your next dose now (unless S&S release a Midweek Micro that is)?
I'm at least going to wait until tomorrow. |

Another great show. I'm not sure I would promote the use of "Pipe type" containers. One they leak but mainly they have been thought to be explosives. It was labeled but not everyone know what geocaching means. There are so many other good options out there I suggest not using pipe in the post 911 world!

Great show, glad to hear from the Venturers here in Michigan, but as a scouter and dad of 2 soon to be Eagle Scouts I beg to differ on the differences between Boy Scouts and Venture Scouts awards.
While many of the requirements for the Eagle Scout rank are geared towards making the scout a better individual, the life skills taught are a benefit to all in the community. Current Eagle Scout required Merit Badges include "Communication" in which the scout must teach other scouts a skill and speak in public multiple times to earn the badge. "Lifesaving" is also required, and while the skills learned are personal they most certainly are skills I think can benefit all members of our community. A scout from our troop rescued a toddler at a local lake. And another local scout saved a man from a burning house.
And as a scout progresses through all ranks they teach younger scouts many scouting skills along the way, so teaching and leadership are promoted early on in scouting.
I don't believe it is whether Scouting or Venturing is a better program, both are great and for different reasons. The requirements for awards in either program are based on making the scout a better person not just now, but for life. And not just for themselves, but for their families and communities. I am happy to report that my oldest son just became active in Venturing even as he completes his Eagle Scout requirements. He may or may not ever earn a Venturing Silver Award, but he has to this point enjoyed every meeting and outing. _________________

Thanks for the show in Venturing. I'm in the process of forming a crew in the Arvada, CO area, I guess we will be the second crew that specializes in Geocaching!! |

Oh man!
As you were talking about browsing for caches without a GPS, you caught me red-handed. I was doing EXACTLY that at work and planning my lunchtime find. I have done the "geocaching without a GPS" tons of times, but I find it's only feasable for urban hides as there are so many landmarks, that you can get within 30ft of zero quite accurately. I would not advise going without a GPS on a geocaching hike in the woods.
Another thing I do without a GPS is to go after previous DNFs. I already know where zero is and how to get there, but I didn't find the cache. Well, now I can look for it without the GPS...
Thanks for the show. |

well, i don't mind phone calls in your show (otherwise i had not called you twice so far), but maybe you can cut them a bit back (or edit down to less time). actually do you play them all or do you just pick the best ones for the show? _________________ *** a cache a day keeps the doc away. *** |

Great show, was able to listen at lunch today and just loved the contened on Scouting. BTW Scouting just turned 100 on August 1st. I know there are a lot of Goecachers that are involved in Scouting in our area or could it be a lot of Scouters that Geocache? There has even been a two part article on Geocaching in our monthly national Scouting magazine ("Leader Magazine"). It would be great to hear more about this on future shows. |
