This short midweek micro is an experiment in using the Enhanced Podcast, so the best way to listen and view the photos, is with iTunes or a capable iPod.

Please give us feedback about how this podcast played for you. Does it play normally on your portable audio player?

I like it a lot! More, please!

It worked fine in iTunes for me, but Windows Media Player would only play the audio with the "Halo 3" podcacher logo. I don't own an iPod, so I couldn't test that part.

Any way of getting a better quality picture on an enhanced podcast?

Great job!

Well that's a first for me: I listened to the micro while I still had half of the full length show left to go.

Worked great in iTunes—clicking on the pic in the lower left of my screen brought up an enlarged version, and the show was great fun to watch.

I see you introduce all of your guests (like my sig item) to In-n-out!.

Sonny - you asked for info on how this show worked on other players. First of all, when I saved it to my hard drive, it saves as an "M4A" format. I've seen this before with other podcasts and I knew that I would be able to play it through my Apple Quicktime (7.3) player. Sure enough, it played just fine and even with the pictures. I did this through my work computer. I don't have iTunes installed on there (for obvious reasons) but I thought that the Quicktime player would not be a problem. It was nice to have you describe the pictures as they were being displayed - this might be something you want to do with future 12 of 12's. Thanks and Keep on cachin!

I don't have iTunes nor an iPod, but the audio worked perfectly with Winamp.

Just played it fine using Quicktime on my desktop. All of the photos played just fine. I will try it on my Palm TX today using TCPMP and Pocket Tunes. I've played m4a files before on TCPMP so I'm sure it will work fine but I have a feeling even the audio won't run on Pocket Tunes.

I don't think most mp3 players (beside ipods) play m4a files but I will test it out on all my devices and get back to you. BTW, I really enjoyed being able to follow along with the pictures and I hope this is something you will do in the future. Perhaps an occasional Enhanced podcast could be released only for monthly subscribers. It might encourage more folks to subscribe to the Podcast. Just a thought. Very Happy

Yay! This is exactly what I had in mind when I suggested this! Interestingly (and I didn't even realize this when I suggested it) the photos do NOT play on an iPod Touch. The show that I referenced when I brought this up is one that I usually watch/listen to at work so I do it through iTunes, but I synched your show this morning planning to listen to it on the train as usual and was surprised to see that the pics didn't work. Interesting.... Still, a great addition to your bag of tricks for the show!

So, you guys are always taking pictures of yourselves eating? Smile Worked great, but I'm so used to the sound of a real slide projector
k-chunking that I miss that sound. Could you, on future shows like this, add some sort of k-chunking sound, such as an LPC skirt lift?

I agree—that's a great idea! Or perhaps a blast of your "didge".

Sat at my desk watched it in iTunes while having a cup of coffee. Going up to full screen-size with the photos made them grainy but the small ones were fine for what you were doing.

Worked fine in iTunes but nothing other than audio on my iPod Classic 80, which i just got for Christmas (yahooo!) .

Oh yeah, PS I missed the micros that you used to do every now and then so any time you want to start them up again is AOK with me.

I tried watching and listening on both Firefox with QT plug in
and on iTunes. It worked fine both ways. Cool.

Worked fine in Quicktime but I don't normally listen that way. My Sandisk Sansa does not support AAC and using enhanced podcasts limits the availability to your audience. I would suggest distributing both formats if your going to do it.
