I completed W6C3 last week and went for the final yesterday. I got to 85 before I "rested" in the up position until I could catch my breath and complete the remaining 15. While some would call this a victory, I want to do it non-stop for real.
So I'm off to repeat the 2nd and 3rd day of W6C3 and will try again next Monday.

A little late to the game I know but I've just embarked on the challenge myself. Started of with the lowest bracket since I've only been able to do 5 at a go. So I started with 3,2,3,2,2,4. Feels pretty good. Thanks Sonny and Sandy for mentioning it. Without you guys I may never have heard about it.

Ditto.

After listening today's show #192 (and arriving home at 5:30 and finding it totally dark outside) and feeling the need to increase my activity level during the snowy-dark season, I have begun the 100-push-ups-challenge.

Well... I haven't actually BEGUN yet... I plan to take the initial test tonight and then start the program.

Here we go!

Oooooooouch!
Started week 1, day 1 yesterday... and oooooh am I sore today! Luckily the hubby and I are committed to the full 6-weeks.

In fact, we're now looking for a 100 sit-ups site - for AFTER we complete this challenge. Smile

Woo Hoo! I can do 100! (on my knees) I did 102 this morning, although they weren't pretty at the end. Then I did three sets of 40 with about one minute rest in between for a total of 222. Very Happy

I guess now I need to work on doing the regular style pushups.

Mary

Back in August when I started the program I was able to do a whopping 12!

It took me 14 weeks to get there.

Woohoo! I was finally able to do 100 in a row - without stopping, or resting in the "up" position. Having my name mentioned on show 196 helped with a little extra motivation.

And I was able to do it the day after my 50th birthday! Don't know why I had to be "over the hill" before it was possible but it goes to show that sometimes the older you get, the better you get. Laughing

I wish it had taken only 6 weeks but not for me. I was only able to do 85 in a row after finishing my first "6 week" set. After that, I went back to a 5 & 6 week regimine until I reached my goal (about 6 extra weeks for me).

Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke, I'll pick up at week 6, day 2 in a couple of days and try 100 again next Monday.

OK, Sparticus, I'm with you man. This is my year to get fit again.

Let me just share a little of my weight story for a minute. I grew up your average kid. Never had any weight gains until I got married and started having kids. I know, that sounds like a woman talking, but I ain't no woman. Anyhow, bottom line is, i quit paying attention to things, and managed to balloon up to over 270 lbs.

Then, a few years ago, I decided it was time to "make that change". I started paying attention to what I was eating, exercising more regularly, and all that good stuff. I managed to drop almost 70 lbs in a little over a year (From October 2005-December 2006. I bottomed out at 202 in December of 2006. I managed to maintain where I was for about 8-9 months, but then quit doing what I should. I've experienced a bit of a rebound, and now I'm just a tad over 250 again.

I'm determined to drop it again, and KEEP IT OFF!!!

So, I've already got a pretty good exercise program going, and I'm watching what I eat again too. When I lost my weight the first time, the key was soda pop. I'm still not a big soda drinker anymore, but I do enjoy an occasional diet pop here and there. For me, it's mostly a matter of portion control.

I honestly believe I can get down to 200 again by mid-summer.

I'm going to start the pushup regimen tomorrow -- will do my "evaluation" tonight, and then get started on the actual 6 week plan tomorrow.

SParticus--I see you said something about a sit-up routine as well. Do you have a link handy for that? I'll look for it in this forum thread later if I don't see you post it. May send you a Wii message as well. I got your Mii.

Anyhow, I'm going to get down to 200, and then we'll shoot for my "ideal weight" within the next 6-8 months beyond that. Something I read has me pegged at an "ideal weight" of around 160. I'd be pleased as punch to get back to 200, and happy has hell to get to 180.

Your story sounds almost like mine. I used to be a twig till I quit smoking and got married. Never had anyone to cook meals with and when she moved in, I actually ate. I used to weigh about 100lbs when I was about 16 or 17. Will be 31 at the end of the week (jan 10) and I now weigh 200. Would love get down to at least 150. I know 200 really dont seem like a lot, but I know I have a gut and it is a little irritating. PLus I want to get back into shape. I dont drink alot of pop, make a can a day with my lunch. Rest of the time it is water or ice tea. As for foods I eat, I have never found that "good for you" stuff to taste good. I gag when it comes to salads. So that is the hardest part for me to control. But I do watch how much I eat and it has helped.
The link for the setups is http://www.twohundredsitups.com/ It is based on the same as the pushups.
Good luck with your endeavor and I wish you luck.

Kudos to both of you for coming up with a way to get us to be more active. As an elementary school physical educator I see firsthand how the children of today are less fit than the children of yesterday. I also know that the best way to get children up and moving is for the parents to set a good example. Your contest will get people up and moving.

And personally, I would do almost anything to win a free coin!!!!

So here goes, I am joining you both in the push-up and 10K-A Day challenge!

Thanks Sonny & Sandy!

What?? There's a 10K a day challenge too?!?! I was thinking about doing the Couch to 5K workout on the off days from the pushup challenge.
