STP! Wow! 69.1 MB download and it "only" took 7 minutes to get...back in the day it would have taken 5-hours on my old 28.8 modem. How many people still use dial-up? _________________ Founding member of SWAG - Santiam-Willamette Area Geocachers. |

Hey Sonny, Sandy, Sean and all PodCacher listeners!!!
Woohoo! I won something again! Wow! And, on the historic 200th show!
Sonny and Sandy, as you mentioned on show #200.0, I did win not too long ago! I actually thought it was like only a couple of weeks ago but it seems it was more like a couple of months ago (it was for the Rainbow Geocoins Contest, end of October)! Time flies when you're listening to a good show!!!
I think I won from the iTunes comments draw? I'd have to listen to the show again as I was too ecstatic this morning (alone in my car, stuck in traffic, going "woo, woo, woo" like Arsenio Hall, pumpin' right arm and all), to remember which draw made me win!
Hopefully, I wrote in quickly enough to get my first pick!! So I can show it off at future events!!
Show #200.0 was a great show! Lots of callers! Even my neighbor from Blainville, Landbehrt, got on the show with his «Famous Lunch hour» (there should be a contest to know how many times he mentioned it!)
Finally, I want to congratulate you both (and Sean too!) for putting out a show week, after week, after week and never letting us down even when you have major events in your own personal lives. I truly enjoy listing to you. You have a great complicity and I love it when Sonny does "so-so" jokes and Sandy brings him back on track.. those a really funny moments. And, I'm not talking about all the great content which is what we expect and get, week, after week, after week!!
Thank you! Keep up the geocaching goodness and I wish you another 200-300 shows! Stay safe and Keep on cachin'!
Ciao!
Dominic, from Blanville, Québec, Canada

|
|
Here's the link to Guidelines for Placing a Geocache in City of Ann Arbor Natural Areas (from which the PDF mentioned in the show comes).
While these permits are an extra step in placement, I'm a fan as it clearly spells out what is expected and permitted. It also spells out a clear channel for the approval avoiding false placement permissions or denials. It also gives the Land Managers a means to track caches on their property so any issues or questions can be quickly addressed.

I was hoping Sonny would come through with his 200 giveaways despite Sandy's objections.
Maybe a midweek micro to do the other 194 giveaways? _________________ If you ain't first, you're last!!

Not to get on a soapbox but I agree with Darryl's comments and given the direction of the world and surroundings I feel this is the only way protect all of us from ourselves. I'm sure we will migrate to a time where we be required to register as Geo-Cacher kinda like having a driver licence which will be a pain. But will cut time spent if stopped by the "Official Muggles".
The sad part is we are all preaching to the choir and the ones who need to be exposed to these issue are the newbie's! Now none of get to find out who they are so we can help guide them until something goes wrong.
How can we inform the newbies about these issues that are more important than having your cell phone.. with caching become more popular by leaps and bounds these issue are becoming front burner issues that need to be addressed before there will be so many restrictions that you would rather waiting in the security line at O'hare airport.
Thoughts?

Some of us have no choice. My home line is dial-up, we are too far from the exchange in a rural area.
I use the ADSL at work to download and take it home on a flash drive. _________________ Vicki

I loved show 200 which I have only just had time to listen to.
I was at the Seaside Event in South Australia at the weekend and there was comment that there were calls from members there about the Copper Pyramid cache. Good to hear the varied accents from around the world on the show.
Well done. _________________ Vicki

I don't see a link to the 2008 PodCacher coin. Did I overlook it somewhere? |
