So, I was driving home and thinking to myself "You know, PodCacher hasn't done a mid-week micro in a while. I wonder when they will do another?" A few hours after being home, I see the tweet. I think some mind-reading was going on somewhere.
Listening now. Thanks S&S! _________________

Last year I embarked on the Project 365. What I accomplished can be viewed here:
http://tinyurl.com/3d2dff
I unfortunately did not complete. At the end of what I have I started getting bogged down with how many pictures I had to sort with vacation and work (and any other excuses I could pull out right now).
Looking back, I wish I had continued and completed. Towards the end of the year, I traveled extensively for work and met many great people that would've been cool to have documented like this way. One of my co-workers wishes I also had completed. He also thought it was a cool idea! _________________

No worries, here's a chance to practice, get your gear and methods locked down and give it a go!
If you guys have any questions for me, why not call it in on the podcacher hotline? _________________ Have you found it yet? |

I'm a little over 200 days into a project 365 that I have been posting on my blog. You can see the related posts here. (That link is sorted by topic so that only the 365 images show up, so you don't have to wade through any of my other blog postings.) I initiated the project on my birthday (Mar 29) last year.
I'll agree that you certainly improve as a photographer. You also (at least in my case) will learn rapidly what is attractive to you aesthetically. For instance I tend to be drawn to isolated objects (a single window is a large brick wall) I also like multiples of objects (20 of the same thing standing in a row in a window display.) Numbers seem to be a big subject for me too, building numbers, floor numbers, numbers on the sides of buses... not sure why.
Some of my favorite 365 shots:
The phone booth.
The Gate.
The Starlet.
The Room. _________________ My Blog!

I am definitely going to get into this for 2010 and I'm looking forward to it and hoping I can pull it off. With a trip to Ireland and two hopeful mega events, I know I'll have some fun things to shoot.
I have one question after listening to this mini show though.
With the Project 365 -- you don't have to actually upload a shot each day? Just take it and then you can upload say a week at a time? I'll probably use my Flickr account and do a set, but I was curious about that part of it. _________________ My photo blog: P.J.'s look at the world

You are correct. The idea is just to take a picture everyday. _________________

What I typically do is take 2 or 3 photos each day. Once a week, I'll go through and upload them to flickr, date them (i.e. 091123 for Nov 23, 2009) and put a short description of what was going on. I'll them put them into the flickr set in order.
Having done this before, let me assure you the reward is at the end of the year, being able to look back at EVERY day and have a small record / journal with a photo. _________________ Have you found it yet? |

For those that does this challenge, and it has been mentioned to have a small pocket-able camera, I also suggest a shockproof/crushproof camera. I had a small pocket-able camera but with it being in my pocket while at work and all the body movements that go along with it, destroyed the LCD screen. So when I set out to get a new camera, I chose one of those shockproof/crushproof cameras so I (hopefully) wouldn't run into that problem again. _________________
