I enjoyed the Lost & Found story about the Aggies. Aggies are about like Geocachers. It's a close-knit family and you would go out of your way to help an Aggie, even if you don't personally know them.
I'm also Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of '92. Whoop!

There are the Texas A&M University Aggies, the University of Texas Longhorns, then a few other schools like Baylor and Texas Tech and such. The main rivalry is between the Aggies and the Longhorns. Lots of tradition and between the schools pranks. If you're not from Texas you'd probably say it's nuts. If you are from Texas, you might also think it's nuts (like me!). |

Loved the show and was quite amused at how topical one of your news stories was for us. The story in question was the April Fools cache and although the story was amusing, our experience of a similiar cache wasn't. The cache in question is Troglodyte, GC2NFJN and my log for it is here: -

I'm all for jokes, but when considerable expense has been gone to by a large team of cachers, it does take the edge off it somewhat.
We got in touch with our local reviewer and he confirmed that these "Liar Caches" are not against any rules, although in my opinion are not really in the spirit of the game when there is no clue or hint to a possible joke aspect, like a the SLOOF cache name in your example.
Despite this start to our caching day, we followed your eternal advice and kept on caching, finding many extreme tree climb caches by the same CO that were exactly what they said on the cache page and were loads of fun
Keep on podcaching!

It is neat that the Sloof Tunnel cache was talked about on your show because my friends and I have been wanting to do it for awhile now, and we finally did it on Saturday (4/9)! We had a hunch that this would not be like other Holy Cowboys tunnel caches that we have done, but we still came prepared. However, it was a good chuckle when we saw the cache just hanging there at the entrance. Because we love a good adventure there were still several in the group who crawled into the tunnel and explored. There are some fun pics in our logs. We kept our logs vague about our easy experience, but I guess the cat is coming out of the bag on this one.
Sonny and Sandy, I too am working on filling in my caching calendar and I don't think I could do it if I weren't moving to a different location. I am moving from Pennsylvania to Oregon in less than two weeks. I can't believe the timing in that I won't be just 3 hours away from Geowoodstalk anymore where I could have met you! Also, I don't know where I'll be on June 4, but if we get established in time I'll try to put together a WWFM 8 if there isn't one set up already in my new location. |
