Damn missed FTP
So am i understanding this correctly these challenges are not going to count towards your total finds, if that is correct I'm really disappointed and leaves me to wonder as to what's the point. It certainly sounds like fun but hey make itcount as a smiley for goodness sake _________________

Thanks for the extra PMM show this week. It was a nice treat and a great interview. The Challenges sound interesting and I will be keeping an eye out to see how they evolve.
Kudos to you guys for keeping us up to speed and for getting exclusive interviews with Jeremy. |

The way I understood the interview was that they WOULD count, but you'd be able to see a separated count if you click through to the profile. For instance the number beside my name in a log would be 200. But if you click to my profile it would say 150 caches and 50 challenges. _________________ My Blog!

I guess I got tripped on the explanation.
If I have it right, now, they won't be treated as just another cache type. In an attempt to make everyone happy, they will sort of both count and not count, depending on how you want to look at your profile / stats.
Of course, a lot of use use stat banners. What will show as found in those? _________________ Dave

Yes, this is the way we understood how Jeremy explained it.
Re: the stat banners - my guess is that the "find" number will include challenges. We should know a whole lot more tomorrow when the site is updated. _________________ Cachin' with my sweetie...

I wonder why they, then, don't do the same with Benchmarks and Waymarks. Not that I, necessarily, want them to.
I was also confused on something else that Jeremy or Bryan said about containers being central to their solicitation policy. And that without a container, that policy is moot. Events don't have containers and they won't let you link to the business hosting the event. I'm not sure how they've applied that policy to the classic virtuals, but I've never heard they were exempt. _________________ Dave

One question Sonny did not ask Jeremy was:
Will the new challenges have any limitation on the min spacing/distance between them? He only stated for now PMs could only do 1 per 24 hr period
The interview was great and am looking forward to these _________________ salsaguy |

I think that is not correct. It wont ADD to your caches count but will be a separate count so that the folks who didnt want virtuals back will be happy (somewhat) and those that did will still see it
Its a separate count and a compromise
I think its a good idea esp since its being added so far after the start of GC.com (10 years) so its better to separate it
We will find out all about it after 11am PST/2pm EST on Thurs

Listen again. Minute 20.
Sonny: Will a Challenge count towards the overall smilie count?
Bryan: Well, if you look at the users profile it will be broken out between how many challenges have been completed, how many caches have been found and how many trackables have been logged. But when you are on a cache listing and you look at the logs it will actually show a cumulative count of both cache finds and challenge completions. _________________ My Blog!

Sounds like they'll be treated the same as benchmarks. Shows on your overall count and broken down to different totals on your profile. Cool!! |

The app is up in the itunes store:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/challenges/id455444525?mt=8
Looks like the maintenance on the website got pushed back a bit but there is one "Worldwide Challenge" visible in the database via the app. _________________ My Blog!
