Great interview with Elonka. I too was in the gaming indrustry for 10 years working for a company called Interplay with Brian Fargo. He just is currently working on a followup to the game Wasteland. That is awesome that she worked with Dan Brown. I meet a geocacher at an event in Temecula, CA that is a researcher for a local Fallbrook author T. Jefferson Parker. I was able to meet him at a book signing in Mission Viejo and talk geocaching with him it was wild.
For anyone who is into gaming and grew up in the 80's will really like this book. It is called Ready Player one by Ernest Cline I can't put it down.
If you buy it please use the podcacher url for Amazon here: http://tinyurl.com/4chtmc _________________

Great episode, thanks so much for including me! Podcacher continues to be my favorite show when I'm out on the road, geocaching. I hardly ever listen to "live" radio anymore, I just want to listen to another Podcacher episode! Thanks for such a high quality program. |

Thanks for the update on the New Garmin Oregon's.
I took a look at the page and I like the new look. The fact that you don't have the fat bezel that gets in the way and going from Resistive to Capacitive touch screen is great. That's the one of the two things that I like the least about my Oregon 400t.
I just hope that it's not too rain sensitive. That's a problem with a lot of capacitive screens. Not that I'm supposed to use my smartphones in the rain, but I have while geocaching (at least when it's drizzling) and once they get to saturated the touch screens become non-effective.
Also reading on the link it says that the amount of geocaches that can be stored is unlimited. I certainly hope that's true. That's the other thing that I like the least about my 400t, it can only support ~1500 caches at a time. Not that it's out of memory or anything, it just something in the SW that basically sets the limit. I believe the 450t's brought this up to ~5K limit, but my are has > 10K caches, plus I like to grab and pull in all the cache's in area's where I go. Right now I pull them in my phone (I've had > 35K in c:geo at one time) but I'd rather have them in both my phone and my GPSr.
Also, GLONASS support is great. I love it on my Samsung Galaxy S III. The accuracy is much better with it and less jumpy in area's of poor view of the sky w/ the larger quantity of Sat's locked. _________________ I'd rather be caching! |

It was a pleasure to chat with you. Thanks for helping us promote the show with Global Gamers!
Sandy and I have talked about how cool it would be to hang out and have dinner or coffee with our listeners. I know we have so much in common and have so many stories to share. One day wouldn't be enough. Maybe someday we could sponsor a PodCacher Listener Cruise and invite everyone to come along and hang out, cache, etc. Wouldn't that be fun!? _________________ Have you found it yet? |

Thank you for sharing the new capabilities associated with the Oregon 600. It appears they will be available circa March 11, 2013 from this online vendor:
