Thanks for the MAPP show. I really enjoyed the last segment about Letterbox Hybrids. They are my absolute favorite to find, but there has been some back and forth with my Reviewer in getting them published. The Groundspeak thread is very interesting, but it seems up to interpretation by hiders and reviewers.
From what I gather:
*They MUST have a stamp according to the guidelines.
*Use of GPS to some point along the hunt is required. I now understand that to be not just to a trailhead or parking lot, but to a specific tree, rock or other obscure point requiring use of GPS to get there.
*From that point, you can use the directional clues only.
*The final location does NOT have to be visible to finders much like the final in a puzzle or multi-cache is hidden from finders.
*I should probably put "Cache is not at posted coordinates" at the beginning of the description.
I personally think that a LBH should be more than just following the GPS to the box's final location and just signing with a name and date. It's not just a traditional. That would be like skipping stage 1 and 2 of a 3 stage multi or having the final location visible for a puzzle cache. Sure, it would be faster and easier to just have someone give you the final coordinates, but that's not the purpose of these type of caches. You can't get the icon if you don't do the work. _________________ If you hide it, they will come!
