DNF vs DNA

When I get near a cache but don't look, I may or may not write a log. If I do, I use Write Note. In the note I would explain why I didn't look. If I actually looked for the cache and didn't find it I would write a Did Not Find log. Why the difference? Because some peole use GSAK to filter out caches with DNFs. If I didn't look for the cache I wouldn't want a false DNF log to keep someone else from looking. Not sure if people maybe filter with finds instead of DNFs. If so, my note might keep someone from looking. In that case, oh well. I don't filter out caches because of DNFs. Just because others didn't find doesn't mean I won't. And why would I filter out a cache because four newbies went out and DNFed a cache and all wrote logs? It might be a really easy find that they didn't know how to look for. Remember when you didn't know what a skirt lifter (LPC) was?

When I heard you say Larrysawesome I wondered if it was really Larry-saw-some. I like the name because it can be used both ways.

This is pretty much my criteria for whether to post a DNF or not. If I get to GZ but don't start a search, I don't post an DNF. My thinking is that if it's my decision not to look for the cache e.g. there may be too many muggles around for my liking, then I haven't got enough information to log a DNF and potentially turn off future cachers from looking for it.
